Please tell me Why?
I walk alone, but never reach.
I dream alone, but it never ends.

Dream Walker, Dream Walker
If I fall in love,
and lose my dream.
Will it return when love is lost?

Please tell me why?
When in love the dream grows,
but when alone we dream to love?

Author's Comments

This is my first ever 'official' poem I wrote. It was for my advance english classh and it came to me sitting in the school library. I remember that I look foward to a stand of magazine and saw the word dream in one and then an add for 'Johnny Walker' in the side and that is how the poem came to be actually.

I didn't change anything (except add dots in some parts) as I feel a personal meaning to the poem and don't want to change a single thing of it.

Again, this is also in poetry.com under 'Carlos Ray Encarnacion' (which is me) if anyone suddenly screams in arm that I stole it from there.

OMG you stole it from this guy named Carlos I tell you! jk jk :D I like how this one is kind of- I don't know what to call it, like it has this semi-dark rhythm to it like when you read Edgar Allen Poe, except not that dark. Just- thoughtful? It makes you sit and think in other words although it's a short piece. So, who exactly is dream walker? O_o

It's to hint that the person in the poem is the dream walker *lol* Kind of him being a being that knows all, yet can't answer his own questions is what I went for there.

Hmm like an existence that just is and doesn't know why or from what point it began existing- it's just always been there? That kind of thing?

And you're welcome. :D And congrats on the grade. I'm curious, these poems you post here in english, I imagine you write them in spanish originally for your classes?

Pretty much on the existence part.

The grade was when I was in 12, a long, long time ago, in my advance english class *lol* It was in english from the start, all my poems have been in there respective language, never translate one to the other as it loses something in the translation in my opinion. Though I have also written in spanish and might upload one later. The spanish one was the first I got an award for actually...if only I could find it O_O It was when I was in 11 grade *lol*

Si, porque yo soy puertoriquena yo! But I speak broken spanglish and can't say very much in a real conversation hahahahaha! Although I understand it more than speak it myself so when my mom used to say things like, "Go do your homework before I beat yo ass" in spanish, I understood very well. :iconlaughingplz:

Yeah, so your spanish poems can educate me. :3

if love can steal the dream away then perhaps it wasn't your true dream at all. perhaps the true dream was to love and be loved.

This is super old and again has nothing to do with me personaly xP This was in high school when reading the words Dream and seeing an ad of Johnny Walker (like I mention in my comments) xP But I like your take on that part of the poem, of course poems can have a million different meanings depending on who is reading them ^_^
